This is a good tour for people who have done this before, but you don't need to be an expert to do it.  We had a great time, and we've only ridden about three times.  We were sore for a few days, though.

Ride the La Aguacatera trail to a hidden waterfall (seasonal) where you can swim in the calm pools below. Descend through dense vegetation, which parts to reveal spectacular views of the Sierra Madre mountains.  Arrive to the village of Playa Grande, and have lunch at the Playa Grande Village Jungle Restaurant.  Good food and nice people.  Your first drink is included - even Margaritas!

Cruise Passengers:  Yes! This tour makes a great shore excursion.

Runs: Tuesday Thru Saturday at 10:00AM

Duration: 5 Hours

Includes: Expert horseback riding tour guide, Lunch and your first drink (can be alcoholic - even mixed drinks) at the Playa Grande Village Jungle Restaurant, stop at swimming hole.

You'll Need:

  • Sunscreen - DON'T FORGET THIS!
  • Insect Repellent
  • Camera
  • Tennis Shoes
  • Long Pants - You'll be raw if you wear shorts.
  • Cash for tip and additional drinks.
  • Swimsuit and Towel if you want to swim.

Departs From: Several pick-up locations throughout Puerto Vallarta and Marina Vallarta.  Exact location will be specified with your ticket.

Kids:  8 Years and Older.  Kids same price as adults.

Restrictions: Weight Limit is 250 lbs (113kg).

We did this tour ourselves - that's where all the photos on this page came from. Great trip - our guide, Francisco, was so nice. We had lunch together and laughed and laughed.

The waterfall may be dry during the dry season months of Feb-May but the spectacular views of the Sierra Madre and Banderas Bay beyond make it well worth it.
